Accommodation on Waterloo Farm is in two fully self-catering traditional stone cottages.  Each cottage has two bedrooms and a full bathroom, open plan lounge / dining room area with a picture window log burning heater to keep the coldest nights cosy.

Each of the self-catering cottages features a semi-enclosed braai area on the stoep (veranda) , which overlooks the trout dams on the farm and the picturesque valley of the Blood River and the Bivane Mountain Range, with stunning views of Northern KwaZulu-Natal literally on the doorstep.

Accommodation at the Bivane River Lodge

The Bivane River Lodge is also self-catering accommodation, and is situated on the banks of the Bivane River as it starts to descend the Balele Mountain Range. 

It has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, with an open plan kitchen / lounge / dining area and a picture window log burning heater.  The Bivane River Lodge also has a lapa, situated on the sun deck which overlooks six waterfalls and is ideal for braais any time of the day or night.

This unit is serviced daily.

  • The Balelesberg offers excellent bird-watching opportunities, with over 280 recorded bird species making their homes in this area;
  • The nearby Utrecht Balele Community Game Park offers more fantastic game viewing;
  • Historical outings to sites such as Isandhlwana, Rorkes Drift, and Talana are all within an easy day's outing from the farm
  • Ithala Game Reserve is also close by and offers a unique game viewing experience;
  • Activities such as clay-pigeon shooting, 4 X 4 trails and horse-riding are on offer by prior arrangement;
  • Nature walks and hikes are available both on the farm, at Bivane River Lodge and at the Utrecht Balele Community Game Park.
